The Stepkids are a trio who came together in 2009 after a decade of working in bands with some of the industry’s biggest names, creating a unique brand of modern psychedelic soul. The Bridgeport CT based band– Jeff Gitelman (guitar, vocal), Dan Edinberg (bass, keys, voc) and Tim Walsh (drums, voc)– gleefully blend classic jazz, R&B, funk, 70s pop/rock and countless other genres and styles.

The release of their 2011 self-titled debut album and the praise for their visually psychedelic live show led to tours with Kimbra, Mayer Hawthorne, Grace Potter, Mates of State and The Horrors. The result of the experience gained and lessons learned since the release of The Stepkids can be heard throughout new album Troubadour, out September 10 on Stones Throw Records.

The album features “Sweet Salvation,” released as a single and video in late 2012; “Moving Pictures,” performed by the band on NBC’s Last Call With Carson Daly last fall; and “The Art of Forgetting”performed recently as part of the “In The Red Bull Studio” series. RollingStone.com just premiered new single “The Lottery” a song that Gitelman describes as being about “the gamble of different sides of life: The gamble of love, the gamble of business, and the general risk of following your heart.”

The Stepkids will continue to bring their music to stages across North America including upcoming performances at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Electric Forest Festival and Celebrate Brooklyn! at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn, NY. The band also recently launched a series of jazzy covers of pop songs from the likes of Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and one of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.”

“I really believe that we still haven’t discovered some of our most exciting stuff,” enthuses Gitelman. “Everybody is so deep musically, there are whole sides of us we haven’t really explored yet.”
