7-inch Now-Again NA7013

Description: Introduced by the Soul Seven’s Charles Hunt, who nicely sums up the last, lost thirty years by proclaiming how great – and underrated – South Dallas’s musical community is, The Apollo Commanders storm forth with a rough, rugged James Brown medley of soul diva Marva Whitney’s “I Made A Mistake” and JB’s own, burly “Low Down Popcorn” – complete with drum and bass breakdowns! Not to be outdone, Marchel Ivery’s Quintet takes a funky stab at Cal Green’s rare-groove classic “Trippin’” with festival promoter Roger Boykin on guitar.

Originally released as a long playing, 33 1/3rd RPM seven inch single, this release offers an incredible amount of funk for the consumer’s buck and adds even more weight to the South Dallas Pop Festival’s incredible archival trawl.
