This night is what Dub Club is all about: classic rub a dub sound system style reggae, legends on the mic, vinyl on the turntables, bass to levitate the building. Trinity is one of the greatest (and most rarely seen) DJs from the 70s golden age of reggae. His tune “Three Piece Suit” was adapted by Althea and Donna for their massive hit “Uptown Top Ranking” , and his many cuts with Yabby You are some of the deepest dread chanting you are ever going to hear. He has only performed twice on the West Coast before, both times at Dub Club. Ranking Joe is a master of the microphone, nicknamed the “Bionic DJ” back in day for his ability to chat all night on the microphone, riding whatever rhythm the selector throws down. Tippa Lee came up in the 80s digital era of reggae with huge Jamaican hits like “No Trouble We”. He is an endless fountain of lyrics and always brings the energy to Dub Club.
These artists and DJ Tom Chasteen will also be appearing on Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW on July 17!
