Episode 5: John Carroll Kirby travels to Bali, Indonesia, where his friend Melati Malay of Asa Tone introduces him to Putu Septa and his orchestra. Starting music at the age of eight, Putu has become. known for his contemporary take on traditional Balinese composing, his virtuosic playing, and his dynamic band leading. He is fresh off a European tour with his large ensemble.
